Participants actively engage in activities that open their eyes to the wonder of nature in their own backyards.     

• Cautions in the Woods - first and foremost we go over the dangers and how to avoid to keep everyone safe. They are hard to actually find so we show photos and have everyone on alert. This helps them see that the woods should not be something to fear but a fun place to explore.

• Insect hunt - equipped with bug bottles and nets we try to catch critters so that we can get a closer look at them. Learning some about classification, good bugs vs. bad and their life cycles.

• Flower hunt - different times of year bring different wildflowers. What are their names? How are they protected? Can we draw them or make crafts that look similar? How do flowers and insects interact?

• Listen to the birds, each with a different song and call. Learn which ones live by us and about our state bird. Where do they go in winter? How can we invite them to our yards?  Can we find a feather?

• Tree time - use all your senses to enjoy them. What are the benefits of having them around and how we use them? Do you know the name of the tree in your backyard?

Games. crafts and fun activities keep the young campers interested in learning about nature.

FIRST-TIME CAMPERS WELCOME!

We cater to first-time campers and are here to help with tent set up and basic camping skills, to make it a memorable experience connecting with the outdoors.

MEAL INFORMATION:

• Overnight Camps: We provide meals for dinner on Saturday night!
• What to Bring: Please bring your own lunches and Sunday breakfast.

It's Your Planet - Love It! Journey

Girl Scouts coming to earn this rank will need to complete a small Take Action project to fulfill the requirements.

Families that attend can help with these projects or plan their own, teaching the value of Community Service to their children. Call April to coordinate!
