Support Camp Tonkawa Outdoor Learning Center

Camp Tonkawa Outdoor Learning Center is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to helping children and families reconnect with nature. Located on 35 wooded acres in Collinsville, Texas, we have provided meaningful outdoor experiences since 2002. We rely on the support of volunteers, donors, and community partners to continue offering programs like summer camps, survival skills, and horsemanship. Supporting Camp Tonkawa helps future generations build confidence, leadership, and a deeper connection to the natural world.

Why Support Camp Tonkawa

Outdoor education plays an important role in helping children grow into capable, confident individuals. Experiences in nature encourage curiosity, independence, and problem-solving skills that cannot be developed in traditional classroom settings alone.

Camp Tonkawa programs give children the opportunity to:

  • Learn practical outdoor skills
  • Develop teamwork and leadership abilities
  • Gain confidence through new challenges
  • Understand environmental stewardship
  • Build lasting friendships and memories

Community support allows Camp Tonkawa to maintain its facilities, care for its animals and land, and continue providing quality outdoor education programs for families and youth organizations throughout North Texas.

Every form of support helps sustain the camp’s mission of connecting people with the earth through outdoor learning.

GIVING BACK TO EARTH

As we are a working outdoor community, we also welcome your troop to come and volunteer or even host a dedicated service project at our camp!

We would be very happy to assist your troop leadership in the planning and execution of this activity to ensure it meets your organization's goals.

It’s Never Easy to ask for help…

But as a nonprofit with expenses, sometimes that’s what you have to do. Horses need to be fed. Buildings need to be maintained. And the simple fact is that without the generous support of visitors, guests, and the community, it would be very, very hard to keep Camp Tonkawa open. So please consider making a fully tax-deductible gift to Camp Tonkawa, mail in your check or use Venmo, just search Camp Tonkawa.

Camp Tonkawa summer camps are the most popular programs offered each year. From Memorial Day through the Fourth of July, campers ages 5–18 participate in outdoor adventures that combine learning, exploration, and fun.

Children attending summer camps can participate in activities such as:

  • Archery
  • Wilderness survival skills
  • Horsemanship experiences
  • Fishing and creek exploration
  • Outdoor cooking
  • Nature hikes and environmental learning
  • Team-building challenges

Parents often contact Camp Tonkawa early in the year to reserve spots for their children before sessions fill up.

Our team is always happy to answer questions and help families determine which camp programs are the best fit for their child’s interests and age group.

Help Preserve Outdoor Learning

Outdoor education programs like those offered at Camp Tonkawa provide children with experiences that can shape their confidence, independence, and appreciation for nature.

Spending time outdoors helps children develop skills that extend far beyond camp activities. Through archery, survival skills training, horsemanship, nature exploration, and team-building challenges, campers learn resilience, creativity, and leadership.

Your support helps ensure that children continue to have access to experiences that encourage curiosity, confidence, and a lifelong connection with nature.
